Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 often referred to professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to be signed for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 2016 Ari Lennox dropped her debut EP Pho. The EP was where she gained recognition. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded music online in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013 with five Finger Discount. In 2014, she released more music via the Internet including Bound. Sweat It is included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21, 2015. J. Cole had her send her songs to the Dreamville Team in the following year as he wanted Rihanna to work alongside her on some of the songs. On December 8 it was announced that she was officially signed by Dreamville Records. The release album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the track Backseat alongside Cozz. On October 21, 2016 her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance for J. Cole on his track Change in 2017, and was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. Also, she was featured on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas, her labelmates. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on the 5th of September. Then, in November, she released two singles, forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November 13, she released two more singles called One and Pedigree. One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It then came out as a single on its own in February of 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. The song, made available with a video on YouTube February 20, 2019 has been watched over three million times over the first 7 days. The singer was a part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
